Enough we have been sleeping. Enough have we been lulled into complacency. Enough have we been dead in our sins. Jesus is telling you and me to get up!
For years the church has been sleeping. Lulled into complacency of accomplishments and making a name for themselves. We call ourselves Christians but we have no concern for the people around us. We think that by giving arms to the beggars, we are being charitable, we think that by paying our tithes, church building fund, giving to missions and to other charities our duty as a Christian is over.
We, who have been called by the Name of God have failed in our duty to pray for the nations. We are satisfied in singing "I love you Lord" and "God is good" who we do not see; and forget to love our neighbours whom we see.
Whether we like it or not, "the knowledge of God is going to fill the earth as the water covers the sea". No church is ever going to be big enough to hold that number of people. What should we do them? Just do what Jesus said to do "Come follow me and I will make you fishers of men".
Ecclesiastes 12:13 says "Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man." That's it! Nothing more, nothing less. Let us do just that. If Jesus said "Come follow me..." then let us do just that. How did Jesus start his day. In Mark 1:35 "Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed." Don't you think that it is about time, that we who call ourselves as believers, beging to follow Jesus just as He said. Enough have we slept. Enough have we been dead to the needs of the people around us. However, we will think about others when we begin to feed upon the Word of God.
As long as we do not feed upon the Word of God, we will still have a hunger for the things of the world and we will die with the world. But, if we feed upon the Word of God, we will not hunger nor will we thirst. When we are not hungry or thirsty, we will then lift our eyes to see those who are still hungry and famished for the Word of God and take it to them. Just as Jesus did.
After the young girl arose, Jesus said give her something to eat. Let us come out of our stupor and Rise up! my brothers and sisters. Feed upon the word of God, and meditate upon it day and night and do according to what it says. By this we will make our way prosperous.
Rise up and eat my brothers and sisters, we have a long way to go!
